Spend a day with the rock art of the countryside west of Hargeisa. Dhagax Khoure, about 40 km from the city, is a granite outcrop with shelters of Neolithic paintings of long-horned cattle, people and animals. It is in the same style as Laas Geel, roughly 5,000 years old, and one shelter holds the most large-cow panels of any site in Somaliland. Dhagax Marodi, near Gabiley, is known for its rock engravings, including a giant cow carving about 1.5 metres high.
